Senior Services

USES' Senior Services program enables long-time community residents to live independently and comfortably in their own homes, increase the number of affordable housing units in the community, and support each participant so that they can maintain a high quality of life, good nutrition, access to health care and lifelong education, and culture. We offer services and programs to over 300 seniors every year, 99% of whom are low-income.
USES’ unique, comprehensive, community-based senior service model offers assessment and intervention along with educational, social and recreational opportunities to preserve dignity, maintain independence, and promote life satisfaction among the older adults we serve. We do this through three main programs:
Senior Home Repair
This program enables seniors who are long-time community residents to live independently and comfortably in their own homes and to maintain affordable housing stock for their tenants—many of whom are elderly and/or handicapped.
Community Classes
These classes help support our seniors holistically, allowing our participants to maintain a high quality of life and independence. Classes exclusively for seniors include Painting & Collage, Bookmaking, Creative Recycling, Movement & Music (through a partnership with the Longy School of Music), singing through our senior chorus, the Platinum Singers, the wildly popular Jazzercise classes, beginning and advanced computers, yoga, Tai Chi, and a Diabetes support group.
Hot Lunch Program
We also offer free/low-cost hot lunch five days a week and three larger signature events that feed over 150 seniors each.
