Family Mobility Spotlight: Carly Feng

Four story brick building with adjacent courtyard

Carly Feng is a working mother of two and a participant in our Family Mobility Programs for the last 2 years. We recently asked Carly to reflect on her experience at USES.

“My name is Carly Feng. I was born in Guangzhou, China, but have lived in Boston for the last 16 years. I like the City of Boston. In 2018, I joined the Training for Office Jobs Program after a friend referred me to improve my computer and office skills. During the program, I started to receive coaching- a way to help students achieve their goals, and find employment. The coaching program continued supporting me long after graduation, and employment. My coach’s name is Melody Valdes; she has helped me a lot; she feels like a part of the family now! I appreciate the services so much. When problems come up, she always helps me. I’m a single mother of 2 children. I have stress most of the time. I worry constantly about not having a job, or a stable income to support my kids, but since I joined the coaching program I feel like I’m not alone in this. Melody always keeps in touch and checks-in to make sure things are ok. My favorite part of coaching is how it has helped me to know more about myself, to reach my goals, and to figure out a career path for me. Finally, I think coaching can help others, just like me, achieve their goals. Thank you again, USES!"
