Ashley’s Story

Ashley, a dedicated single mother, faced life's challenges head on. Juggling the demands of parenthood while pursuing her educational goals, she sought support from United South End Settlements (USES).

When Ashley was selected for our Guaranteed Income Program, STEP, she felt a renewed sense of hope. The monthly cash stipend of $850 provided her with the financial stability she needed to focus on her goals. "This program has been a game-changer for me," Ashley shared. "It has allowed me to provide for my daughter, Amani, and pursue my education without constant worry."

Enrolling Amani in our Early Childhood Education program was key to that stability. Our high-quality early childhood education program provided a safe and nurturing environment for Amani to learn and grow and gave Ashley the peace of mind she needed to focus on her own goals.

Through workshops and coaching, Ashley honed her financial literacy skills, empowering her to make informed decisions about her future. The support she received from USES was instrumental in her success. She was able to complete her master's degree, a significant milestone that opened doors to new opportunities.

Today, Ashley is working towards obtaining her real estate license and pursuing a career in law. Her journey is a testament to the power of community and the transformative impact of programs that support the whole family. "Being a part of these programs has opened more opportunities for financial stability, economic growth, and the ability to do more to further my career."
